Director Phyllida Lloyd’s Herself is the survival story of a single mother as she rebuilds her world and a home for herself and her two daughters, having fled domestic abuse. The film is a raw and important portrayal of poverty, social violence and womanhood, co-written by Clare Dunne with Malcolm Campbell, with Dunne also starring as Sandra in a brilliantly compelling performance.

We were delighted to be able to speak with Phyllida Lloyd, and with Clare Dunne and co-star Harriet Walter, about the experience of making the film and its message.
